Among them, TSMC The 5nm process will start mass production in the second quarter as scheduled.

It is reported that TSMC’s production capacity has been fully booked by major customers such as Apple, Huawei HiSilicon, Qualcomm, etc., and the target of 10% of the annual revenue will be achieved by the end of the year. Chip manufacturers including Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, and MediaTek are expected to complete the tape-out of TSMC’s 5-nanometer chip design next year and gradually introduce it into mass production.

In other words, TSMC’s 5-nanometer order visibility has been seen in the first half of next year. TSMC’s Fab 18 Fab 18 (GigaFab) tailored for 5 nanometers has completed the first and second phases of the project. Each phase of the project can provide a monthly production capacity of about 30,000 12-inch wafers. It is expected to enter the second quarter. In the mass production stage, the production capacity was increased at the fastest speed in the third quarter. As for the third phase of Fab 18, it will be mass-produced next year. It is estimated that the three fabs will be fully mass-produced by the end of next year, and the annual production capacity of 5-nanometer wafers will exceed 1 million.

TSMC began to enter 5nm mass production in the second quarter, and began to ship wafers in high volume in the third quarter. It is reported that Apple’s 5-nanometer A14 application processor production volume at TSMC this year has not been revised down as planned, and Huawei HiSilicon’s 5-nanometer Kirin 1020 mobile phone chip production volume will begin in the third quarter.

In addition, Qualcomm’s 5nm 5G modem chip X60 and 5G mobile phone chip Snapdragon 875 will also start filming in the fourth quarter. In general, orders for 5nm will be full by the end of this year.

Equipment manufacturers also pointed out that Intel’s Xe architecture graphics chips, Super Micro Zen 4 architecture processors, Huida’s next-generation graphics chips and artificial intelligence processors, Broadcom’s new-generation high-speed network chips, and MediaTek’s new mobile phone chips will also be launched next year. Finalized 5nm design and started mass production.
