Renesas Electronics Introduces Industry’s High-Performance Wideband Millimeter-Wave Synthesizer

TOKYO, Japan, March 11, 2020 – Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a leading global supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced a next-generation wideband millimeter-wave Unique features optimized for broadband wireless applications. The flagship 8V97003 is ideal for local oscillators (LOs) for mmWave and beamforming, as well as accurate reference clocks for high-speed data converters in a variety of applications such as test and measurement, optical networking, and data acquisition.

The 8V97003 has best-in-class performance in its class on a single-chip architecture, making it ideal for emerging applications with carrier frequencies above 6GHz, including wireless broadband, microwave backhaul, and 5G communications.”

The 8V97003 offers the industry’s best combination of wide frequency range (171.875 MHz to 18 GHz), ultra-low output phase noise (-60.6dBc in the 20 kHz to 100 MHz integration region for 6GHz carrier) and high output power. The wide frequency range allows users to replace multiple synthesizer modules with a single 8V97003, reducing solution footprint and cost. High output power eliminates the need for external drivers, further reducing complexity and overall power consumption without compromising performance. Ultra-low output phase noise enables excellent system-level signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and vector magnitude error (EVM), making it an excellent choice for 5G and other wireless applications. As a reference clock for high-speed data converters, the 8V97003 maximizes system performance by improving SNR and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR).


The 8V97003 is in volume production now in a 7mm x 7mm, 48-pin VFQFPN package.
