Shandong Qingdao Power Supply Company completed the 5G+ transmission visual monitoring test in the 220kV Linan Line Tower Section of the 220kV Linan Line in Jinjialing Power Internet of Things Demonstration Zone, and successfully applied 5G communication technology to the visual monitoring of power transmission channels.
5G technology has the characteristics of high bandwidth, low latency, large connection, etc., which can meet the network requirements of business scenarios such as smart grid video line inspection, distribution network automation, and automatic meter reading. At the same time, the combination of 5G, edge computing (MEC), network slicing, and other technologies can provide a secure and isolated virtual private network for power grids that have high requirements for data security.
A few days ago, Qingdao Power Supply Company built a 5G smart grid experimental network in Jinjialing, Laoshan, Guzhenkou on the west coast, Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center and Qingdao Power Supply Company’s control building. On this basis, the company is actively exploring innovative applications of 5G+ transmission visual monitoring, adding 5G transmission equipment to existing visualization equipment to realize 5G transmission of images and videos. In this test, the 220kV Linan line tower section 12 to 14 monitoring equipment was selected, with 5G customer front equipment, the video data was connected to the nearest 5G macro base station, and then transmitted back to the mobile edge computing center, and then forwarded to the line monitoring Shooting system master station. The transmission delay is reduced from 70 milliseconds to less than 15 milliseconds, real-time viewing of line channel video is realized, and the smoothness of video images is greatly improved.
In the next step, Qingdao Power Supply Company will carry out explorations in 5G+ drone line inspections, 5G+ remote live operation, etc., and better combine communication technology with power transmission and power guarantee for business practice.
