The latest research report “2020 Q1 Smartphone Display Panel Market Share: Revenue Growth 3%, Samsung Display Remains Leading”, released by Strategy Analytics’ mobile phone component technology service, pointed out that the total revenue of the global smartphone display panel market in Q1 2020 was US$9 billion.
According to the report, total smartphone panel revenue increased by 3% year-on-year due to increased demand for OLED panels from smartphone customers. In Q1 2020, Samsung Display led the smartphone display market with a 52% revenue share, followed by BOE and Tianma Microelectronics. Samsung Display maintains the lead with its large production scale and high volume. The top three suppliers together account for nearly 74% of the revenue share in the global smartphone display panel market.
Strategy Analytics analyst Jeffrey Mathews said: “In Q1 2020, the smartphone display panel market continued to maintain demand for OLED panels, which drove revenue growth in the overall display market, while smartphone LCD panels suffered due to oversupply and declining demand. Impact – Both LCD panel revenue and shipments declined. Samsung Display secured orders from major smartphone OEMs for its flexible OLED panels, which drove its revenue growth in the first quarter.
